Ollie Pickering
Oliver Daniel Pickering (1870-1952) was an American professional baseball outfielder and manager in a career that spanned 30 years, from 1892 to 1922. He played for a number of major and minor league teams. He is known for coining the phrase “Texas Leaguer”, which is a weak pop fly that lands between the infielders and outfielders for a base hit. He was also the FIRST American League batter!
